Your site has helped me greatly with my pronunciation.I can't thank you enough!
I started as an independent learner, using Benjamin L. D'ooges' Latin for beginners. This is excellent for acquiring the forms and some vocabulary, however, trying to apply it in normal conversation proved somewhat difficult due to the formal nature of the material.
Using adler and your podcasts has made learning conversation a joy. This is an astounding gift to independent learners.
An extremely grateful reader / listener.
Ben.
Thanks,
I am pleased you are enjoying using Adler. There are around 1000 regular down loaders of each new episode I post from the textbook - hopefully some day a few of you will meet up, and be able to converse in Latin.
The great advantage of this method,as you seem to have discovered, is that your Latin becomes intuitive, and reading then becomes a joy, not a chore. You end up reading the text, not translating it. This, after all, is the goal. Being able to grin and admit to actually being able to hold a conversation in Latin is merely a welcome side effect.
It is simply too time intensive to be possible to teach this way in a classroom situation - the podcast is the perfect format for distributing this method of instruction.
