John Crowe Ransom: Bells for John Whiteside's Daughter

Corporis parvi properante gressu
et fuga plantae choreas agentis
funebris notae stupefecit omnes
arca puellae.

quae suo celsas resonavit aulas
Marte, et extremo latitans vireto
intulit bellum propriamque tela
torsit in umbram.

languidos glaucae pepulit lacunae
anseres, fusas viridi nivosum,
cum legunt auras, onus exuentes
caespite nubes.

"pro" reclamarunt, "dolor!" anserine
"pellit invicta furibunda virga
mellei sub sole flagrante amoena
somnia pomi."

aes sonat. cedit generosa pompa.
sanguinis iuncti veneramur agmen
et verecundos taciti sepulcri
flemus honores.
