Adjectives of this class have, etymologically, a participal meaning, either active, neuter, or passive.
Many have a force exactly corresponding to the force of the particples of the verbs from which they are derived. Others again denote a quality of which the etymological meaning is descriptive.
They are formed by adding the suffix to the ROOT.
